In sports, India celebrated a landmark victory by winning the ICC Champions Trophy for a record third time in Dubai, marking a high point of national pride.

Tragedy struck with the horrific gang rape of a 19-year-old girl in Varanasi, sparking outrage and highlighting urgent issues of women’s safety.

Transport safety was also compromised when a train derailed near Cuttack, causing casualties, and an explosion in West Bengal at a house functioning as an illegal firecracker factory killed eight family members, exposing risks tied to illicit manufacturing activities.
